Cyber Threat Alliance welcomes new members

Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet, the initial co-founders of the Cyber Threat Alliance, are welcoming Symantec and McAfee on board as additional co-founders in the spirit of collaboration to defeat advanced security threats.

Speaking during
Governmentware 2014 Rick Howard, Chief Security Officer, Palo Alto Networks, Howard noted that the need for peers, vendors, customers and competitors within the industry to share information is the single most important thing that the security community can do to defeat the advanced adversaries that exist today.
“Cybersecurity information sharing is as important to our collective defenses and will be as disruptive to the security community as the introduction of network-based sandboxing technology and the next-generation firewall were just a few years ago,” he said.

“Today, the Cyber Threat Alliance – Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, McAfee and Symantec — is putting its collective weight behind this idea. We have an open invitation for other organisations that share in our goal and meet some minimum requirements to be part of the Alliance. Please join us.”
