SAP and Sierra Solutions have launched eCareApp, an app built by Sierra Solutions on SAP’s HANA Cloud Platform.
The launch follows a successful joint pilot project conducted across 10 families in the first half of 2016 in partnership with ACE Seniors, a Singapore-based social enterprise and interest group that offers a holistic approach towards successful ageing. The pilot saw participation from local care organisations including Alzheimer’s Disease Association Singapore (ADA), Centre For Seniors (CFS), AWWA, and Metta Alumni Care (Metta).
The app has been developed with caregivers in mind, providing best practices and continuity of patient care between visits to a doctor. In-app visual guides and historical records ensure relevant information can be easily understood and discussed with doctors, making it easier to develop customised care plans.
“Our joint effort with Sierra on eCareApp has from day one had the power of software and technology at its heart – with the aim to improve the connected care experience. We’re already seeing the app’s incredible impact on the lives of elderly users and their caregivers. Since our initial pilot, we’ve worked tirelessly to improve and refine the solution based on hard data and insights. We believe strongly in the need for ongoing innovation, collaboration, and co-creation of new digital technologies in the healthcare space to support an ageing population in Singapore,” said Andy David, Director for Healthcare in the Asia Pacific region at SAP.
“We look forward to leveraging the benefits, efficiencies, and education capabilities in the emerging connected care space that eCareApp has to offer. In partnership with Centre for Seniors, we’re committing to a large-scale implementation throughout our community groups. What we really like is that it’s designed with the caregivers in mind, allowing them to access information in real time to care for their loved ones,” said Dr Bee Wan Tan, Executive Chairman, ACE Seniors.
“My mother suffers from dementia and my father from cancer. As their primary caregiver, I know first-hand how important and helpful it is to use new technologies in the monitoring and tracking of their conditions. Over the past 11 years that I’ve been active in the care space, it’s only recently that solutions like eCareApp have really begun to improve the level of care I’m able to provide. It’s making a world of difference to my parents and their doctors,” said Jasmine Chua, an early adopter of the eCareApp.
In the last decade, Singapore’s resident population has greyed. Singstat shows that as at end-June 2016, the proportion of residents aged 65 years and over has increased from 8.4% in 2006 to 12.4% today.
