Tata Communications is leveraging on its extensive global communications infrastructure to extend its unified communications and collaboration (UCC) portfolio with the launch of Global SIP* Connect, a SIP trunking service.
Global SIP Connect uses Tata Communications’ global infrastructure to give enterprise customers worldwide consistent, high-quality connectivity options in certain countries, eliminating the need to manage multiple domestic and international service providers. It also means enterprises can scale and add capacity in line with fluctuating business requirements.
The offering is compatible with the Microsoft Lync unified communications platform, enabling businesses to make domestic and international calls from the home**, in the office or on the move**, enhancing collaboration opportunities. Many
businesses are beginning to consider SIP-based services to unify their
communications channels, saving money and improving productivity in the
process.
Mike Sapien, Principal Analyst, Ovum Research said, “Our
research shows that SIP trunking has become one of the major ingredients
for multinational corporations who are consolidating and centralising
their global voice and IP telephony assets and moving towards unified
communications. Services like Tata Communications’ Global SIP Connect
portfolio are addressing these requirements as well as the need for a
global voice backbone network for global reach."
Anthony Bartolo, Senior Vice President, Unified Communications and Collaboration, Tata Communications, said, “As a leader in wholesale international voice, our global reach and efficiencies of scale are particularly valuable to large global enterprises. By taking advantage of the combined power of VoIP and cloud as well as off-net calling, we are enabling large enterprises to manage better, communicate smarter and save more in implementing their global voice requirements."
Tata Communications' domestic SIP trunking services with public switched telephone network (PSTN) access are already available in the US, UK, and 11 European countries. They will shortly be expanded to Asia. Global SIP Connect also offers a host of complementary services including local numbers in 45 countries and over 300 cities, as well as Toll Free coverage in over 105 countries.
The Tata Communications global network includes one of the most advanced and largest submarine cable networks in the world, and a Tier-1 IP network with connectivity to more than 200 countries and territories across 400 points of presence (PoPs), as well as nearly 1 million square feet of data centre and collocation space worldwide.
