Hisense introduces all-in-one mobile device, hints at ecosystem

Hisense is hoping that the world will take to its MAXE X1 6.8" 4G smartphone, which is also a tablet, TV, and set-top box. The device will be available worldwide within a month, and the vendor disclosed that talks are under way with a Chinese video content company about adding paid content for it.

According to the company, the Hisense X1 has been tailored to for a 180cm (5'11") tall man, but thin enough at 9.2 mm to be used by smaller hands. The Android 4.4 operating system-based device features a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3 GHz processor and a 1,920 x 1,080 pixel display.

The 13-megapixel main rear-facing camera supports full HD (1080p) video recording as well as panoramic, fast-burst and camera modes. Two stereo front speakers, 5.1 Dolby virtual surround technology and three noise-canceling microphones come together to cater to music lovers and video enthusiasts.

As a set-top box, the device can transfer large amounts of content to a non-smart TV through an HDMI cable. It also shares online videos, music and images with the TV through a mobile high-definition link (MHL) cable among other connectivity options.

The X1 is available with a NFC-enabled MINI 20g Bluetooth phone. Near-field transmission between the two devices enables the smaller device to receive calls, send and receive SMS as well as swipe subway and bus passes.
