Asia Pacific cross-border B2C activity high in 2013

A report published this April, Global Cross-Border B2C E-commerce 2014, has found that the top online shoppers in the Asia Pacific region come from China and Australia. According to publisher yStats, China was the largest importer of them all in 2013, followed by the US.

Of selected Asia-Pacific countries, Singapore had the highest estimated share of cross-border B2C e-commerce in 2013, followed by Malaysia. Close to a fifth of online shoppers in Japan buy products online abroad, while buying directly from overseas online shops is also a growing trend for South Korean online shoppers.

Cross-border B2C e-commerce in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is growing by a high double-digit percentage number annually aided by various services that assist shoppers in cross-border services. The US accounted for a third of the cross-border B2C e-commerce transactions from MENA-based online shoppers.

The worldwide leaders in B2C e-commerce exports are the US, the UK, Germany, the Nordic nations, the Netherlands and France, with a combined 2020 forecast of online retail cross-border exports to top 100 billion Euros.
