SingTel launches second data centre in Hong Kong

Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) is expanding its data hosting capabilities in Hong Kong with the launch of the SingTel EXPAN Tseung Kwan O Data Centre at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park in Sai Kung, the New Territories.

The new centre complements SingTel’s existing data centre in Shatin, the New Territories, and will cater to the increasing needs from enterprises in the Greater China region.

Goh Boon Huat, Vice President, Business Products at SingTel Group Enterprise said the Tseung Kwan O Data Centre, in conjunction with SingTel's other regional data centres, enables MNCs to diversify their network and strengthen their geographical presence.
“The SingTel Tseung Kwan O Data Centre offers enterprises in the Greater China region a secure, world-class co-location data hosting facility. With the commissioning of this new centre, SingTel’s EXPAN data centre footprint will grow to 14 in the Asia Pacific region," Goh said.

Designed to fulfill the Uptime Institute Tier 3 certification, the Tseung Kwan O Data Centre enables enterprises to achieve high service level availability with features such as redundant capacity components as well as independent power distribution paths for servers and IT equipment.

The Tseung Kwan O Data Centre is supported by SingTel’s extensive fibre and cable networks, which allows customers to enjoy a consistent level of service quality throughout the entire network.

Enterprises can also leverage SingTel’s comprehensive suite of managed services to enable their IT operations such as managed network solutions, unified communications, video solutions, security solutions, and systems integration.

The launch of the Tseung Kwan O Data Centre is timely as IDC has ranked Hong Kong, along with Singapore and Taiwan, as the top locations in Asia Pacific to set up new and outsourced data centres*. According to Frost and Sullivan, Hong Kong’s data centre market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.3% to US$802.6 million by 2019**.
