Unisys has enabled users of Unisys ClearPath enterprise servers to web-enable their
enterprise applications and access them via mobile devices with Release 6.0 of ClearPath ePortal.
"As part of their IT
modernisation initiatives, ClearPath clients want to give their mobile
customers and employees anywhere, anytime access to key business
applications," said Rob Cashman, VP, mission-critical
servers and solutions, Unisys.
ClearPath ePortal 6.0 makes the modernisation capabilities of
ClearPath ePortal available for applications written with Unisys Agile Business (AB) Suite rapid-development software deployed in the
Microsoft Windows environment. Those capabilities were previously
available only to applications written for the ClearPath MCP and OS 2200
operating environments.
In the new ClearPath
ePortal Developer 6.0, Unisys complements Microsoft Visual Studio 2013
and open-source software with new application modernisation
capabilities. The ePortal's use of the Microsoft .Net environment
simplifies the development of ClearPath applications with web and mobile
features and provides access to the latest tools for HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.
The cloud-based Unisys Hybrid Mobile Application Build
Service, a new feature of ePortal 6.0, enables developers to build
hybrid mobile applications in Microsoft Visual Studio. The applications
can be installed on Apple iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8 devices,
taking advantage of the native device capabilities previously
inaccessible to cross-platform web applications. The service allows
applications to be published to the Apple App Store, Google Play Store,
Windows Phone Store or local enterprise application repositories.
In
addition, Unisys has upgraded its ASP.NET Web Forms mobile theming
capability, which enables the ePortal to provide the latest look and
feel on mobile devices using Apple iOS 7, Android and Microsoft Windows
8.
The runtime platform in ePortal 6.0 –
which hosts web, mobile and hybrid applications – uses Unisys secure
partitioning (s-Par) software technology with industry-standard Intel
Xeon family processors. Secure partitioning creates a secure
"container" of dedicated resources – including memory and inuput/output –
for each application workload, eliminating contention for common
resources by multiple applications and yielding more predictable
performance.
