TechNavio, an independent tech-focused global research firm, has released a report on the Global Transparent Caching Market 2014-2018
According to TechNavio, transparent caching enables service providers to reduce a significant amount of content traffic such as video by storing a cached (pre-fetched) copy of popular content close to the edge of the network, much nearer to the user. It is then delivered to an end-user directly from the edge of the network rather than from the source, taking less time than requesting the content from the source. Such caching is invisible to both the content originator and the end-user, hence the name.
Increased internet traffic and growing demand for video streaming are the major factors driving the growth of the global transparent caching market, the research firm said, projecting a CAGR of 31.3% over the forecast period.
“Increases in Internet penetration and growing adoption of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have led to an increase in Internet traffic and boosted the demand for video streaming services,” says Faisal Ghaus, Vice President of TechNavio Research.
“Vendors are now increasingly integrating transparent caching with content delivery networks to efficiently meet market demands and ensure quality of service for consumers.”
