Nexmo extends reach to Indonesia via Telkomsel

Nexmo, a cloud communication API company, has partnered with Indonesian telco Telkomsel to provide two-way cloud-based communications in Indonesia.

"Telkomsel is pleased to partner with Nexmo and have the ability to offer our customers access to enhanced mobile messaging communications," said Edward Ying, Telkomsel's Director of Planning and Transformation. "Nexmo is an innovative cloud communication company that understands both the advanced technology as well as the local requirements in Indonesia that are necessary to meet customer demands."

Nexmo will provide enterprises and app developers in Indonesia and Southeast Asia with access to Telkomsel via its advanced SMS outbound text messaging solutions. In working with Telkomsel, Nexmo is reducing the number of "hops" for customers by expanding its network of direct carrier connections. This provides better messaging quality by reducing messaging latency for customers.

Propelled by a surge in demand for Internet-enabled and mobile devices, Telkomsel has over 138 million subscribers, the largest subscriber base in Indonesia.

"Through our new partnership with Telkomsel we are expanding our direct access and connectivity to the largest market in Southeast Asia, opening a direct link to this lucrative business market for enterprises worldwide," said David Vigar, Nexmo's Director of Carrier Relations.

Nexmo's cloud-to-mobile solutions provide cloud APIs that enable app developers and enterprises to reach customers globally via mobile text-messaging and voice experiences. Companies and apps such as Airbnb, Alibaba, Line, Viber, and WeChat use Nexmo for their communication needs. The company's reach extends to 235 territories worldwide, and over 1,700 carriers, offering reliable access to the majority of the world's population.
