Seagate rounds out portfolio to offer full set of storage services and solutions

Storage solutions provider Seagate Technology has announced that it is the first company to deliver hard drives, solid-state hybrid drives, SSDs, external storage solutions, recovery services, cloud services and fully integrated cloud systems and solutions. The company announced a number of product updates in conjunction with the unveiling of its new cloud strategy:

The Seagate ClusterStor 9000 solution is a fully integrated Lustre-based scale-out solution designed for HPC and big data customers. Delivering superior converged scale-out storage quality and performance efficiency, the ClusterStor 9000 solution delivers 50% higher performance than previous ClusterStor platforms. Additional customer benefits include GridRAID technology, which provides 400% faster rebuild times, reduced management tasks and operating costs; and architecture that eliminates storage I/O bottlenecks and enables maximum sustainable performance per disk drive.

The new Seagate EVault Enterprise Backup and Recovery Appliance now accommodates up to 100TB of usable capacity.

Also new is the Nytro XP6302 PCIe flash accelerator card which delivers high PCIe flash capacity in a half-height form factor. The Nytro XP6209 card adds a new 1.86TB capacity point, doubling the capacity.

Seagate also unveiled an eighth-generation enterprise hard drive portfolio with a 2.5" form factor. New drives introduced include the Seagate Enterprise Capacity HDD — the world’s first 2TB 2.5 enterprise-class nearline drive, Seagate Enterprise Performance 15K HDD with increased drive performance and double the capacity of the last generation, and the Seagate Enterprise Performance 10K HDD Capacity drive.

The new drives offer enhanced storage capabilities like Seagate Secure self-encrypting drive technology, Instant Secure Erase functionality for easy drive retirement, PowerChoice on-demand power savings, and RAID Rebuild for faster rebuilds.
