Emerson Network Power offers complete data centre on a rack

Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and a specialist in maximising availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, has announced the availability of SmartCabinet in Southeast Asia.

Designed for small computer rooms with limited floor space, the SmartCabinet eliminates the need to build complex computer rooms which dramatically improves the speed of system deployment compared to the traditional build approach.

The SmartCabinet is composed of a single rack that meets all the requirements of a traditional data centre by combining power protection, thermal management, power distribution unit, and infrastructure management and monitoring in a simple packaged solution. It is pre-configured, pre-installed, and factory-tested to ensure system compatibility and is ready to use from day one.

“In today’s highly digitised environment, small- and medium-sized businesses are faced with the challenge of continued data growth, putting pressure on the data centre’s physical infrastructure. Left unmanaged, high-density compute loads can quickly lead to overheating, risking shutdowns. That is why it is important for IT managers to invest in new – and better – IT infrastructure,” said Andy Liu, Regional Product Manager, Emerson Network Power in Asia.

The SmartCabinet comes equipped with Emerson’s online double conversion rack-mounted uninterruptible power supply (UPS), helping to guarantee sustainable and stable operations. It also comes with a built-in rack-mounted air conditioning system, allowing cold/hot air to circulate within the rack for better temperature and humidity control while operating 24/7. The integrated thermal management solution inside the rack provides 100% protection against dust, significantly reducing the risk of equipment breakdowns and expanding the lifespan of the IT equipment.

The solution’s built-in monitoring system allows users to efficiently monitor the status of their critical equipment even while off-site. In the event of a system failure, users will be notified through an SMS or email alert. The solution also has a uniquely-designed emergency cooling fan that expels hot air in the event of a system breakdown, ensuring that it remains running while waiting for maintenance personnel to arrive on-site.

In addition, the SmartCabinet brings the following key benefits:

· Efficient foundation for the IT infrastructure and computer room through adaptive enclosures and rack structures;

· Improved heat and airflow management with optimal rack perforation;

· Management, access and control of hardware in the rack level; and,

· Visibility of critical infrastructure life signs in a local office, at remote locations or across a distributed network

The SmartCabinet is on display in Singapore at the Datacenter Dynamics Converged event on October 17 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center and at Data Center World from October 29 to 30 at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre.
