This collaboration will enable the three data centres to link back to 1-Net in Singapore to form cost-effective and strategic interconnections. Participating data centres can enjoy enhanced security, connectivity and reliability for their content and applications.
Essentially, the MoU enables all participating data centres to transfer information using each other’s networks, and follows an earlier agreement under which 1-Net, Cyber CSF and TCCT can use each other’s services and offer these services to their respective customers.
This collaboration is in line with Singapore’s Infocomm Media Masterplan, in which Singapore is positioned as a 'Digital Harbour' to drive more data, content and digital services into Singapore through interconnected data centres.Singapore is a data centre hub in this agreement. All partners will have the option to connect to all participating data centres directly through a 'Data Center Corridor'. This will enable 1-Net, CyberCSF, TCCT and PCCW Global to easily access domestic and international markets more rapidly, ultimately leading to lower latency and cost for customers.
“We are delighted to partner with the Asia’s leading data centre providers to introduce a high-speed access network in Asia. Global data centre traffic growth will be almost tripled by 2018, and the introduction of the data centre corridor will be the key catalyst for this growth. With this new initiative, businesses can now focus on what’s important, knowing that their back-end IT is taken care of,” said Wong Ka Vin, Managing Director of 1-Net.
Voradis Vinyaratn, Executive Director and Acting Managing Director said, “We are pleased that our relationship results in multiplying impact on IT industry as it offers a wider range of IT infrastructure availability and capacity. With our strong relationship with 1-Net and PCCW Global, today’s collaboration has affirmed our success proved by connection between existing eastern route and new southern route.
"With security and reliability, these routes will serve surging IT and high-speed Internet demand across Asia Pacific. I am proud that TCCT, 1-Net, CyberCSF, and PCCW Global have made our joint vision of 'Data Center Corridor' into reality to further enhance regional infrastructure to be ready for ASEAN Economic Cooperation (AEC) next year.”
Daniel Korompis, President Director of Cyber CSF said, “ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) countries and companies doing business with us can now gain access to state-of-the-art data centre services and advanced technology telecommunication providers, allowing them to focus on their business growth.”
PCCW Global also entered a separate strategic alliance with 1-Net today that enables their customers to have access to comprehensive portfolio of data centre services, cloud, network and security solutions through their combined data centre footprint across Asia. The agreement is similar to the one signed between 1-Net, Cyber CSF and TCCT in October 2014.
1-Net North, a data centre by 1-Net, will be completed in early 2016. The facility will be Singapore’s first data centre to be certified with Tier III standards for Tier Certification of Design Documents and Tier Certification of Constructed Facility by the Uptime Institute, an independent data centre research, education, and consulting organisation.
