StarHub invites clients, partners and media to join it in year-end festive giving to the less privileged

Singapore's StarHub typically sends out about a thousand hampers to various corporate clients, partners and media friends during the year-end festive season.

This year, the telco has decided to do something different. In the spirit of giving a gift that keeps on giving, the telco has offered those on the recipient list the chance to forgo their hamper in exchange for a gift for others who are less privileged.

The money that would have gone towards those hampers will be used to purchase tickets for Junior Claus, a play by the Singapore Repertory Theatre*. Each corporate hamper declined translates into two to three tickets for the
children, families and caregivers from the StarHub-Central Singapore Nurture Programme, a free English literacy programme that empowers over 600 children from low-income families to improve their academic abilities and boost their self-esteem

According to StarHub, 10% of their Christmas Hamper recipient list have opted to exchange their hamper for tickets, allowing them to provide 244 tickets for a performance of Junior Claus on 6 December 2014.

"While the festive season should be enjoyed with our loved ones, spending time with one’s family may be a luxury some cannot afford. StarHub is a firm advocate of family time as well as engaging our customers, partners and friends in our social outreach efforts," said
Jeannie Ong, Chief Marketing Officer, StarHub

"We are encouraged by the feedback from our corporate customers, business partners and media friends. They exemplify the compassionate human spirit and the fact that people want to do good. We hope that the children and their loved ones will enjoy their very precious family time together, made possible by our partners and friends."

*StarHub is also a sponsor of the Singapore Repertory Theatre.
