Governments spent US$9.7 billion on geospatial intelligence solutions in 2014

Visiongain has released Governmental Geospatial Intelligence (Geoint) Solutions Market 2014-2024: Digital Mapping, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cloud-Based Geo-Analytics & Geo-Data Exploitation for Defence & Homeland Security, in which global government spending on Geoint solutions for defence and homeland security is estimated to be worth US$9.7 billion in 2014.

GIS and Geoint systems provide the means to reference data geographically. In this visual context, complex dynamics, patterns and relationships can be revealed and analysed for defence, intelligence and homeland security purposes. Advances in technologies like cloud and 3D modelling, together with increased availability of high-quality, high-accuracy geospatial data from satellites, are propelling the market for government Geoint solutions beyond intelligence and C2 (command and control) into areas like resource management, mission simulation, and down to individuals.

Fifteen countries lead in the race for Geoint, with the US, China and India in the top three. Japan, South Korea and Australia are the only Asia Pacific nations in the top 15, with no Middle Eastern countries in the mix.
