Sharat Sinha joins VMware APJ as VP for partners and general business

VMware, the virtualisation and cloud infrastructure provider, has appointed Sharat Sinha as VP, partners and general business, VMware Asia Pacific &Japan (APJ).

Sinha is based in VMware's APJ headquarters in Singapore and reports to Sanjay Mirchandani, Senior VP and GM, VMware APJ. Sinha will lead the partner and general business segment across APJ and is responsible for driving the go-to-market strategy with VMware's ecosystem of more than 13,000 partners in the region.

"Sharat is a 20-year IT veteran with extensive P&L and sales management experience and brings to VMware a deep understanding of channel sales, marketing and a track record of optimising technology trends to meet customer and partner business requirements," said Mirchandani. "Sharat's networking expertise will also bolster VMware's network virtualisation leadership, helping customers realise the full potential of network virtualisation as part of our software defined data centre architecture."

Prior to joining VMware, Sinha was Theater VP and GM for the Asia-Pacific region at Palo Alto Networks where he drove significant growth in the area of network security. Sinha was also VP and GM at Tellabs APJ and worked at Cisco for over 11 years in sales and marketing leadership roles.
Sinha holds a doctorate in business management from the University of South Australia and a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering. He has a master's degree in industrial and management engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
