Bharat Book Bureau, an India based market research information aggregator, has released a report on the Chinese smartphone industry for Q4 2014.
The report finds that the Chinese smartphone industry's shipment
volume reached around 105 million units in the fourth quarter of 2014,
up 16% sequentially, with a total of 248 models launched
during this quarter. Overall, smartphone shipments in China
stood at 388.8 million units in 2014, down 7.9% from 422.2 million
units in 2013.
Thanks to the white hot sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6
Plus, Apple became no. 1 in terms of shipments in
the fourth quarter, shipping around 17.3 million iPhones in China. Xiaomi was ranked second with 17 million units. Meanwhile, BBK (Vivo) and Oppo are both making progress. Each has over 6% share of the shipments, compared to less than 3% in the beginning of 2014.
