Facebook's Grand Prize winner in the first annual FbStart Apps of the Year awards is a Chinese app called MomentCam. MomentCam lets people create cartoons and caricatures from photos of themselves or friends. You can add objects like hats and glasses to your photo, choose a background and share your “Momie” with the world.
The Social Good App of the Year award went to Hunger Crunch, a game for Android and iOS created by Rice Bowls, a non-profit organisation that helps people fight hunger through virtual and real-world experiences. All of the profits from in-app purchases in the game help feed orphaned children around the world, including in India and the Philippines.

The awards recognise the most successful mobile apps from FbStart, the company's global programme offering free tools and services for mobile app developers said Michael Huang, Partner Development representative from Facebook who authored a blog post on the news.
This year’s award categories include the best app by region, the best social good app and a grand prize winner. The App of the Year grand prize winner receives US$50,000 in cash and US$25,000 in Facebook Ad Credit, and the other winners each receive US$5,000 in cash and US$5,000 in Facebook Ad Credit. Apps are judged across four principles: growth and engagement, experience and design, efficiency at scale and leveraging Facebook’s platform.
