VMware, the virtualisation and cloud infrastructure provider, has announced the availability of VMware EVO:RAIL for the ASEAN region through its Qualified EVO:RAIL Partners. VMware EVO:RAIL is a hyper-converged infrastructure appliance that helps IT organisations streamline the deployment and scale-out of software-defined IT infrastructure.

In partnership with Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, Hitachi Data Systems, HP and NetApp, VMware EVO:RAIL will be offered through these partners’ channels as a single SKU (item) covering hardware, software, and support and services costs, with single point-of-contact support by these Qualified EVO:RAIL Partners.

Findings from a survey* conducted by VMware in March 2015 amongst CIOs from the ASEAN region revealed that 71% of CIOs acknowledged ASEAN’s importance as a contributor to global revenues by 2017, with one in four indicated that opportunities with the coming of the ASEAN Economic Community was a key reason.

The findings also showed that 84% indicated the transformation to a software-defined enterprise is important for their organisations. The increased cloud adoption** in markets like Thailand and Vietnam, coupled with growing mobile penetration*** of over 120% across the region, puts added pressure on businesses to provide speed, flexibility and a secure way of managing IT.
