1-Net has announced an enhanced data centre connectivity network in Singapore with Epsilon Telecommunications and KVH as part of its strategy to build a Data Centre Corridor in Asia.

The collaboration allows 1-Net’s customers to connect 14 key data centres at either a 1G or 10G capacity to drive more business transactions across multiple data centres in Singapore. The interconnectivity will allow 1-Net’s customers to operate, or “peer”, between the data centres to facilitate the creation of new business models in the face of a US$53.4 billion* opportunity in the data centre and cloud services space by 2018.

The benef
its of having an interconnected data centre network are the low latency and availability of high bandwidth for transferring extremely large files. For instance, most financial services enterprises use low latency connections to ensure high speeds in executing transactions. With this, customers will also benefit from the ability to connect to network providers, cloud and application providers, as well as content distributors at a lower cost. The development also provides customers with more connectivity options and diversified routes between selected data centres.

“With the Data Centre Corridor, our customers will be able to leverage the connectivity to other data centres in Singapore and the rest of Asia as they look to expand their business operations in the region, offering them greater flexibility, resiliency and cost reduction, ” said Wong Ka Vin, Managing Director of 1-Net.

This collaboration contributes to 1-Net’s vision to create a high-speed Data Center Corridor through the interconnectivity of data centers in Asia, to enable businesses to access domestic and international markets more rapidly. In November 2014, 1-Net announced a partnership with TCC Technology and United Information Highway in Thailand to enable connectivity between Singapore and Thailand. Moving forward, 1-Net expects to establish more connectivity partnerships to interconnect data centres in the region.
