The government is striving to develop quality of life in the country and has kick-started several initiatives for the development of an IT infrastructure. The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, known as ictQATAR, has a long-term vision of building an advanced ICT sector that will benefit the entire country.

“The adoption of smart systems in different sectors in Qatar has led to increased IT investment in the country. With a rise in population, the government is taking smart initiatives to meet future demands,” says Faisal Ghaus, Vice President of Technavio Research.

“Increased disposable income, growing preference of people for smart devices, a strong economy and the need to provide better quality of life is enhancing the IT potential in the region. Leading companies like IBM are contributing significantly to 'Smarter Planet' initiatives.”

Cloud computing is also taking off, Technavio said.
