What startups like about the Innotribe Startup Challenge

Delegates mingle with exhibitors and startups during a coffee break.

Startups who attended the Innotribe Startup Challenge in Singapore today have given positive reviews to the networking opportunities available, as well as to the feedback given to pitches.

Rosali Steenkamer, co-founder and COO of Advice Games, feels that the Innotribe Startup Challenge can offer a good network and access to suitable partners. The company brings together data about the customer profiles and uses machine learning to provide power gamified apps that can be tailored to the individual.

Steenkamer revealed that the company chose to attend the Innotribe Startup Challenge regional showcase in Singapore as it plans to expand into Asia next. The company was set up in the Netherlands and has offices in San Francisco and London, with a possible Hong Kong presence to come later this year.

She noted that the advice provided at the Innotribe event was very detailed. "We got one-to-one feedback on how to pitch which helped a lot," she said.

Hong Kong-based Gatecoin, a secure Bitcoin exchange, already has representation in Australia, Hong Kong, and Japan and plans to expand into Southeast Asia.  "It is an opportunity to be seen by investors," Aurelien Menant, co-founder and CEO of Gatecoin said of the event. "Being here gives us the opportunity to meet partners in the region."

Menant also appreciated the amount of time the coaches spent on each startup's pitch. "They are very good in their field," he said of the coaches.

Nikos Bentenitis, founder and CEO of CoinSimple, a platform that helps merchants accept BitCoin and other crypto-currencies without handling the funds, echoed Steenkamer's and Menant's observations that the Innotribe Startup Challenge offers opportunities to meet the right people for a growing business.

"The feedback was useful in tailoring the pitch for different audiences," he said.
