Panasonic creates Android and HTML5 platform for digital signage apps

Panasonic has announced an Android and HTML5 based platform for a forthcoming range of professional displays intended for digital signage and third party applications in the commercial and education sectors.

An embedded signage player running such applications could reduce installation complexity, improve signage system mobility, and enable operation from remote locations.

Panasonic aims to form strategic collaborations with a number of third-party software developers like m-fusion, SCALA, GRASSFISH, and wondersign to widen the potential diversity of applications for its platform, which will initially be implemented in 42", 49", and 55" professional displays slated for global release this autumn (editor's note: roughly August to October).
