IDT has expertise in both magnetic induction and magnetic resonance technologies, and actively participates in the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and AirFuel Alliance as a board member. In addition to early implementation in consumer products, IDT is seeing interest in its mass market wireless power kits, reflecting the crossover from early adoption to broad market deployment, the company said. The 5W, Qi-certified kits comprise all the hardware, software and documentation needed to deliver a plug-and-play experience so developers can quickly integrate wireless charging capabilities into their designs.
"2015 was the turning point for wireless power adoption, and in 2016 this capability will become much more commonplace in a variety of portable electronic applications," said David Green, Research Manager, power supplies and wireless power at IHS. "The infrastructure is developing, and consumers will begin to see wireless power capabilities touted in a much broader array of products on store shelves."
"IDT has emerged as the clear leader in the wireless power market with highly integrated solutions based on leading-edge technology," said Dave Shepard, VP and GM of IDT's Consumer Products Division. "Whether developing custom chips for global technology leaders or providing easy-to-use kits for the mass market, we continue to meet and exceed demanding customer expectations."
