“Companies across the globe are embracing the power of analytics in everything they do,” said Darren Ong, Vice President, Big Data Platform, Asia Pacific and Japan, HPE. “Traditional databases were never designed to analyse human information and often lack the key capabilities necessary to effectively and reliably understand unstructured data. With the addition of next generation artificial intelligence, neural networks and machine learning based capabilities we now enable organisations to harness 100% of their data.”
New capabilities include:
Integrated interface: A graphical user interface empowers users to perform self-service analytics and shortens time to insight with intuitive, easy to use visualisation functionality. This new functionality augments IDOL’s connector framework, which enables IDOL to integrate with popular 3rd party visualisation tools and applications.
Knowledge graph capabilities: Automatically discovers relationships between entities to reveal linkages and shared traits. For example, businesses can gain insights into what a company’s customers might have in common with each other in terms of their personal interests and social relationships.
Advanced context-based search: Delivers an innovative, fully customisable, open source capability that enables organisations to tailor and integrate meaning-based search results into mobile or enterprise applications.
Rich media analytics: Incorporates neural network based deep learning functionality to enhance the accuracy of rich media analytics such as speech-to-text conversion (IDOL can transcribe in almost 30 languages), face detection and speaker identification.
IDOL is part of HPE's big data platform. HPE Vertica provides advanced analytics; IDOL provides data analytics; Vertica OnDemand offers cloud-based advanced analytics, while Haven OnDemand handles big data in the cloud.
