Intel Security (formerly known as McAfee) has inked agreements with BT and Siemens.
Under the agreement with BT the two companies will create new solutions to help organisations improve security and prevent cyber-attacks. The companies will also work together to further develop their common vision of creating next generation security services.
These new solutions will bring together key elements of both companies’ technology platforms and address current shortcomings of traditional point security products by avoiding the operational silos that widen the gap between detection and response. They are designed to simplify management and support, close expertise gaps in the market and improve speed of response.
Together, BT and Intel Security will work to address threats with a single ecosystem in which the controls within both companies’ platforms will talk and interact with each other. Cost benefits for customers include the ability to deliver the same controls often with less hardware, less configuration and less management overhead.
Mark Hughes, CEO of BT Security, said: “At BT, we are determined to stay ahead of the security game. We are collaborating with Intel to bring together BT’s security intelligence with Intel’s advanced security tools in real time. We believe that our combined proposition will be an industry first in terms of the scope and ambition. Intel’s cutting edge security technology and our knowhow in service design and delivery can help make our customers safer.”
Raj Samani, EMEA chief technology officer, Intel Security, said: “Our goal is to enable businesses around the globe to more aggressively and effectively defend against data security incidents and targeted attacks. Together with BT, we plan to close the gaps between detection and remediation by creating and managing a security ecosystem designed to enable real-time communication, intelligence exchange and response across security tools.”
Siemens is leveraging Intel Security solutions for its Plant Data Services
Provides early detection of threats and recommendations for counter-
measuresSiemens and Intel Security are expanding their collaboration to help protect industrial automation systems from increased cyber threats. Siemens' experts leverage Intel Security solutions such as antivirus software, whitelisting and security information and event management (SIEM) within the framework of plant security services.
These tools are designed to help detect security incidents promptly, enabling Siemens' experts to notify plant operators without undue delay and allowing them to implement counter-measures.
Siemens offers Plant Security Services that include carrying out security assessments, implementing security, and continuous monitoring of industrial infrastructures. The offering now encompasses Intel Security solutions including McAfee VirusScan, McAfee Application Control, McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator as well as McAfee Enterprise Security Manager, the security information and event management.
The McAfee VirusScan software enhances protection against malware such as viruses, rootkits, worms and Trojans. The software can, for instance, be used for the TIA Portal or the Simatic PCS 7 process control system. Siemens provides software installation as well as management including regular security reports. It also leverages the McAfee Application Control whitelisting solutions to block execution of unauthorised applications based on approved whitelists that help to prevent the operation of unwanted malware and applications. McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator can be used to manage and control approved software.
McAfee Enterprise Security Manager offers a high-performance, powerful security information and event management solution that brings event, threat, and risk data together to provide strong security intelligence, rapid incident response, seamless log management, and compliance reporting.
Siemens helps companies to fulfill statutory regulations with continuous monitoring. The recording, analysis and archiving of data also enables security incident reports to be issued in accordance with international standards such as ISO 27002 or IEC 62443.
