Intraix, a Singapore-based company focused on improving energy efficiency, is coming up with KLUG (meaning 'smart' in German, and pronunced 'kloog') Home, a smart home platform that controls home appliances from a single mobile app.

The USB-powered KLUG Home smart home hub connects to any router and turns it into an intelligent IoT (Internet of Things) control centre. In one scenario, a user's FitBit could detect decreasing heart rate during sleep and trigger KLUG Home to dim the lights and switch off the podcast, then increase the temperature of the air-conditioner once the user has entered deep sleep, saving energy on along the way.

"Managing and controlling multiple interfaces defeats the purpose of having smart devices to simplify your life in the first place. KLUG Home not only makes your home smart, but it is also simple to use," said Bryan Lee, co-founder of Intraix. "Anyone can build hardware, but we believe that software is the core component that makes a difference. We believe that Intraix has the right touch and passion necessary to create an intuitive product that value adds to your existing smart devices."

Intraix also believes that a smart home should be able to learn, for example by recognising a pattern or learning a new skill, and has designed KLUG Home with this functionality. KLUG Home uses learning algorithms to automate tasks as it learns about the home owner's habits.

Other Intraix KLUG devices include the KLUG Track Home Energy Management System and KLUG Air, which makes air conditioners smarter. KLUG Air programs itself after a week of learning daily routines, and also syncs with weather data, automatically adjusting the temperature on rainy days to save energy and money.
