Smart technology focus at CommunicAsia2016, EnterpriseIT2016 and BroadcastAsia2016

Smart technologies and digital transformation are a focus at this year’s CommunicAsia2016, EnterpriseIT2016 and BroadcastAsia2016, which return to Marina Bay Sands Singapore from 31 May to 3 June 2016.

“From sensors, wearables to intelligent ecosystems, Asia Pacific will see 8.6 billion connected devices by 2020*. Hyper-connectivity (has) heightened automation and opened new possibilities for enhanced productivity with innovations including artificial intelligence, robotics and more. CommunicAsia2016, EnterpriseIT2016 and BroadcastAsia2016 continue to deliver value through insights and exhibitions of new Internet of Things (IoT) manifestations, unveiling thought leadership and best of breed innovations at the region’s leading technology event,” said Victor Wong, Project Director of Communications Events, Singapore Exhibition Services.

“We are very eager for visitors to see what we have in store, especially at the new and improved NXT@CommunicAsia on Level 3, which will focus on IoT and smart city innovations.”

Wong noted that the shows have grown. "We are serving an ICT and broadcast industry that is always changing. The technology out there is already mature. What we need right now is putting the discovery and invention into practical usage, in the home environment, in transportation, in public spaces," he said.

Highlighting the importance of smart technologies by companies in Singapore and beyond, Lam Joon Khoi, Secretary General, Singapore Manufacturing Federation added, “BroadcastAsia, CommunicAsia and NXT will see the convergence of multiple establishments showcasing their latest innovative technologies. We encourage all visitors and exhibitors to visit the Singapore Pavilion and network among the frontrunners of the industry. Trade shows like these are excellent platforms for collaborative partnerships to take flight, not only within the domestic market but international markets as well.”

Lam also noted that manufacturers are digitising processes and the value chain, and working on harnessing the information that is captured as a result to serve customers better.

Visitors to the shows will observe key trends in action, the ‘robo’ trend reported by Gartner** for example. The Asia Pacific region has seen adoption of robotics from food delivery to logistics management as businesses look to become more productive.

Smart homes will also be brought to life with concept and commercialised technologies for the home to enhance the lifestyles of today’s connected consumer, while creating new content experiences to engage today’s consumers will also be a focus. With increasing environmental and health concerns from the region’s haze and smog concerns, solutions fuelled by artificial intelligence can showcase how big data can enable better city and environmental maintenance for sustainable and liveable cities.

Finally, new, on-demand content and delivery have already changed the broadcasting and production industry, and continue to evolve. Brands will need to keep up with the latest technologies to create engaging and innovative content that captures today’s multiscreen audience.

All innovations will be showcased at CommunicAsia2016, EnterpriseIT2016 and BroadcastAsia2016, Asia’s largest and most integrated ICT and broadcasting industry event.

Computex, a major IT show in Taiwan, is also held during the same period. Wong stressed that Computex has a completely different profile. "CommunicAsia focuses on the latest trends - smart city solutions, Internet of Things, end-to-end big data solutions," he said. "Singapore being a hub and with very strong marketing programme we are able to showcase many international exhibitors coming to the show. We are expecting 48,000 attendees," he said.
