LeEco flash sale sees 61,000 smartphones fly off the shelves

LeEco today raked in Rs78.6 crore over sales orders of over 61,000 units of its Le 2 and Le Max2 phones in a flash sale, setting a new industry record. LeEco is also the first brand in India to release two flagship phones with Qualcomm processors in the same day, the company said.

The records were achieved through two channels, LeEco's own e-marketplace LeMall.com India, which was launched June 8, and Flipkart.

LeEco says the results were not a surprise given that the smartphones offer Indian buyers lossless music with the Continual Digital Lossless Audio (CDLA) standard, a content ecosystem and membership programme, and stylish design combined with a disruptive price offer.

LeEco invested Rs200 million in the flash sale, giving away a pair of free type C CDLA earphones worth Rs1.990 to all Le 2 and Le Max2 buyers. LeEco says it is the world's first company to create type-C CDLA earphones, which provide a lossless audio experience. Both phones lack the traditional 3.5mm headphone port.

The Le 2 is powered by the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset, making the phone the first one in India to adopt the high-end Octa-Core CPU, which performs 21% faster than Snapdragon 800. Le 2 has a 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera.

Running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, the Le Max2 features 6GB RAM, 64GB ROM, and a 5.7" screen in 2K Super Retina Display. Its 21MP rear camera and 8MP front camera both support the Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) standard and an f2.0 aperture reduces problems such as smearing due to dim light.
