Enterprise customers are interested in cloud solutions, and demand fast service implementation and prompt service updates, shared Fumitaka Takeuchi, President of NTT Com Security in Japan. Speaking during Fortinet's Fast & Secure conference in Singapore, Takeuchi added that customers want the flexibility of self-service on-demand, while ensuring optimum business performance.

NTT Com Security offers security services such as risk consultancy, installation services for security appliances, software, and managed security services. The company leverages software-defined technology to ensure agility in service provision. It has developed its own security information and event management (SIEM) platform to accommodate unknown threats as well as advanced persistent threats (ATPs).

NTT Com Security's integrated virtual security (IVS) service for cloud customers deploys Fortinet's FortiGate-VM and FortiWeb-VM solutions, providing customers with fast services and a customer portal for self management. "Fortinet offers the most suitable solution for our needs," Takeuchi said, praising the excellence of the expertise available at Fortinet, quality assurance and quick responses to requests.

He noted that Fortinet has a rich lineup of virtual appliances that are ideal for NTT Com Security's customer needs. "In addition to unified threat management (UTM), they have excellent functions," Takeuchi said. "Every product has a very rich command line interface. For a service provider like us it is critical to bundle (products with solutions). For speedier development a rich command line is critical. This is why we partner with Fortinet."

As the IVS roadmap unfolds Takeuchi hopes to deepen the Fortinet relationship. NTT Com Security will enrich the IVS middleware platform with sandboxing, more automation, as well as third party cloud services. The company is rolling the IVS platform as a wholesale cloud service to other xSPs, and introduce it to 14 global locations where it has a presence.
