The Blackmagic URSA Mini was designed specifically for solo camera operators and small film crews who need cinematic video quality. The Super 35 digital film camera features a robust body with an adjustable side handle with integrated camera control, allowing operators to convert quickly between handheld setups and shoulder-mounted configurations.
Thanks to the thermal stability of the sensitive image sensor, the camera achieves frame rates of up to 120 fps for highly dramatic slow-motion footage and a resolution above Ultra HD quality. In order to ensure the necessary heat dissipation, the camera features sophisticated air intakes and an active cooling system.
"The minimalist and compact design lends the Blackmagic URSA Mini digital film camera an almost iconic appearance. Weighing only 2.5 kg, it is very light and offers a myriad of innovative features for the professional shooting of film in cinematic quality. The camera is extraordinarily convenient in its handling. Last but not least, it is the adjustable side handle with integrated camera control that opens up versatile possibilities," judges said.
The Red Dot Award is one of the largest and most prestigious design awards in the world. In 2016, the award received a record 5,200 innovations from 57 nations.
