Duncan Hewett to lead VMware APJ

VMware, a global provider of cloud infrastructure and business mobility has appointed Duncan Hewett to the post of SVP and GM to lead the VMware Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) business, effective August 9, 2016.

“Duncan Hewett is taking over at an exciting stage of VMware’s growth in APJ, which is one of our best-performing geographical regions,” said Maurizio Carli, EVP, Worldwide Sales, VMware. “A substantial opportunity lies ahead for VMware in this part of the world. Duncan’s rich experience in the software industry – as well as his deep understanding of the Asia Pacific markets – will help us take our APJ business to the next level.”

Hewett has nearly 30 years of emerging market experience, with most of it focused on Asia Pacific. He joins VMware from IBM, where he most recently served as VP for IBM Software for Asia Pacific, leading a team of over 1,800 people across sales, acquisition integration, subscription and support, software support and software services. Hewett has also had roles leading a team of 400 enterprise sales specialists spanning eight growth markets including Southeast Asia, India and South Asia, Greater China, Korea, Australia/New Zealand, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Latin America.
