Schneider Electric releases Power Manager for SmartStruxure solution v1.2

Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, has announced Power Manager for SmartStruxure solution v1.2. The solution adds electrical systems management – specifically power monitoring and energy accounting capabilities – to the company’s SmartStruxure building management system (BMS).

Energy is one of the largest expenses for facility owners and managers and is under increasingly rigorous regulations. However, many organisations have very little visibility into their electrical systems and are unable to manage or financially multiple systems to monitor both power and building operations. Power Manager for SmartStruxure solution v1.2 addresses these challenges by providing a fully embedded, cost-effective power and building management solution that can be managed via a single system.

Power Manager for SmartStruxure solution v1.2 enables organisations with non-critical electrical network applications to better monitor, manage and optimise their buildings from a single interface. This ensures electrical system health, increases power quality awareness and improves energy accountability. Equipped with tools to monitor electrical equipment and key capital assets, organisations can improve response times for power related issues, better understand power factor, harmonics and voltage disturbances, identify faults and quickly diagnose key electrical problems. Energy managers can also continuously improve energy usage by tracking energy consumption, using this data to achieve energy conservation objectives or corporate sustainability goals.

Features of the Power Manager for SmartStruxure solution v1.2 include:

 Configurable dashboards featuring HTML5 graphics
 Energy profiling, comparisons and monitoring to establish baselines and set targets, then monitor energy usage against them.
 Electrical network health summaries
 Real-time access to power meter data

“The Schneider Electric Power Manager for SmartStruxure solution v1.2 combines our expertise in building management systems and power management into one robust solution,” said Laurent Bataille, Executive VP, EcoBuilding Division, Schneider Electric. “Now building personnel
can effectively monitor, manage and view energy in the same way as their heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), lighting and fire safety. This insight can help an organisation save up to 30% on its annual energy consumption. It is ideal for buildings with non-critical power requirements such as commercial offices, retail or education applications, existing SmartStruxure solution sites or even those transitioning a BMS to (the) SmartStruxure solution.”

Schneider Electric was named the leader in the Navigant Research Leaderboard Report on Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) in mid-September. For the second year in a row, Schneider Electric has received the highest overall score for strategy and execution among 15 companies that have demonstrated a strong track record in the BEMS market.

Navigant Research ranked companies based on 12 criteria spanning strategy and execution including vision, go-to-market strategy, partners, technology, product performance, pricing, geographic reach and staying power. Schneider Electric’s SmartStruxure solution, powered by the company’s StruxureWare Building Operation software, was recognised for its advanced capabilities in analytics that promote the development of intelligent buildings and optimise energy management.

“This recognition from Navigant is a testament to our longstanding commitment to creating solutions that capitalise on the latest technologies and enable the buildings of the future,” said Bataille. “As the intelligent building market continues to grow, solutions like SmartStruxure will serve as the digital backbone of building environments and drive new levels of energy and operational efficiencies.”

“As the keystone technology for the intelligent building, BEMS are critical for organisations looking to invest in data-driven solutions to energy and operational management challenges,” said Casey Talon, Principal Research Analyst, Navigant Research. “Schneider Electric has demonstrated strong leadership in its integrated intelligent building platform approach and continues to innovate through deepened capabilities in building analytics.”
