Ericsson and Equinix partner to help enterprises in SEA, Oceania execute on multi-cloud strategies

 Ericsson to provide Apcera Platform to deploy any application, on any cloud infrastructure, at speed, without the risk
 Equinix to provide secure high performance interconnections to multiple clouds via Equinix Cloud Exchange
 Initial target enterprises will be finance and insurance companies in Southeast Asia and Oceania to help solve their data compliance and regulation challenges

Ericsson and Equinix have developed a joint offering for enterprises to deliver the benefits of hybrid cloud and multicloud adoption. The offering leverages the Equinix Cloud Exchange (ECX) and the Apcera platform from Ericsson, with initial target customers being finance and insurance companies in Southeast Asia and Oceania facing challenges on data compliance and regulation.

The finance and insurance industry have strict compliance regulations on data that limit what they can do with multiple clouds. Ericsson and Equinix’s joint offering will address this challenge by enabling enterprises to deploy any application on any cloud infrastructure with high performance and secure connections that can still meet compliance regulations.

Ericsson’s Apcera Platform is a highly secure, policy-driven connective fabric that enables deployment, orchestration, and governance of diverse application workloads—containers, platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) runtimes, and complete operating systems—across multiple cloud infrastructure assets including hybrid clouds, private clouds and public clouds. The platform can be extended with an open API.

Equinix Cloud Exchange is an advanced interconnection solution that enables on-demand, direct network connectivity to multiple cloud providers in major metro areas throughout the world. It also provides virtualised, private connections that are scalable, on-demand, and easy-to-get.

Ludvig Landgren, VP Network Applications & Cloud Infrastructure, Ericsson South East Asia and Oceania said: “We will jointly support enterprises, initially addressing Southeast Asia and Oceania customers, moving workloads and data across multiple clouds using one port with on-demand, automated connectivity.”

“As the wider community of financial and insurance enterprises look beyond traditional technology models to ensure compliance, they can also experience all the benefits offered by cloud technology within a secure data centre environment,” said Clement Goh, Managing Director, South Asia for Equinix. The initial deployment is scheduled for December, 2016.
