IIJ JV launches Leap GIO Cloud in Thailand

Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, has announced that Leap GIO Cloud, a cloud service launched in Thailand by Leap Solutions Asia (LSA), is now live. LSA is a joint venture between IIJ and TCC Technology Company, a major data centre and IT infrastructure service provider in Thailand.

Leap GIO Cloud is a cloud service developed to serve local Thai companies and Japanese-owned enterprises. The service leverages both IIJ's cloud implementation and operation technologies and TCCT's data centre and network infrastructure. Leap GIO Cloud is provided in two forms: Leap GIO Public, an auto-self-provisioning public cloud service with automated billing on an hourly/monthly basis, and Leap GIO Private, a private cloud service with which cloud environments can be implemented and tailored to customers' system requirements.

Leap GIO Cloud will be delivered by LSA. IIJ Global Solutions Thailand, a fully-owned IIJ subsidiary, will be selling this service as one of LSA's resellers.

With the Leap GIO Public service, customers can customise their servers through their own portal and have immediate access to them, on-demand. A high-performance virtual private server and Internet connectivity are offered in exchange for hourly or monthly fees. The service is ideal for applications such as Web servers, application servers, and servers used as system development environments, IIJ said.

The Leap GIO Private monthly fee-based service can be used to deploy flexible environments tailored to customers' system requirements. It enables customers to design and implement OS and application configurations on their own servers preinstalled with the VMware virtualisation platform. Existing IT assets can be migrated as is, and this service is suitable for the system infrastructure of mission-critical applications.

LSA has further acquired three SAP certifications: for hosting services, cloud services and SAP HANA operations services. With these certifications, the company will offer support for implementing and operating SAP BASIS in the cloud.
