The Singapore Computer Society (SCS) has a full plate in its 50th anniversary year. The organisation is targeting to launch the Game of Drones competition in April, and the National Digital Proficiency Programme in Q317.
The SCS Game of Drones 2017 is to be organised in conjunction with the annual SCS Splash Awards, and will be the celebratory finale as SCS commemorates its 50th anniversary this year. Prizes of over S$50,000 stand to be won, and the SCS expects some 1,000 people to attend the final in October 2017.
The SCS Game of Drones will comprise a race and a hackathon. Drone Racing will be a racing competition using programming tools and software development kits (SDKs) where drones will fly on a specially constructed drone racing track with the winner being the drone able to complete the distance in the shortest time. According to SCS, there are likely to be two race categories, a first person view (FPV) race and a remote-controlled (RC) race.
Drone Challenge is a mobile app competition that requires participating teams to solve real life challenges using drone technologies.
The SCS, aims to make the National Digital Proficiency Programme a recognised benchmark for essential digital skills, with
increased credibility among employers, co-workers and clients.
Professionals, managers, engineers and technicians (PMETs) across all
sectors are welcome.
SCS
will work with suitable training providers and vendors to develop the
course curriculum and also design the testing mechanism to validate
individual competency in digital application skills.
