VMware enables CSPs to offer AirWatch as a managed service

VMware, a global player in cloud infrastructure and business mobility, has announced communications service providers (CSPs) worldwide can offer VMware AirWatch as a managed service through the VMware vCloud Air Network Managed Services Provider (MSP) offering.

CSPs can immediately leverage AirWatch services hosted by VMware to deliver differentiated, value-added services for enterprise mobility management (EMM) that can help open new revenue streams while helping solve major mobility challenges for enterprise customers.

According to VMware, many organisations are relying on their CSP as a trusted advisor regarding the technologies needed to successfully meet their mobility goals, particularly when the CSP provides both user devices and the business telecommunications lines. They are also looking to outsource EMM to a trusted partner as a managed service, VMware said. VMware AirWatch as a managed service is a turnkey solution for CSPs to offer EMM managed services without investing in their own application infrastructure or simply hosting a given customers' EMM licenses in their own data centre.

CSPs offering AirWatch services join the vCloud Air Network Program's MSP offering get a turnkey solution that includes:

AirWatch EMM: AirWatch enables the management of corporate-owned, BYO, and line-of-business devices, including Windows 10 PCs.

Service development and delivery: The vCloud Air Network provides CSPs with volume discounts based on spend commitments, partner support, test capacity, marketing support, training and other benefits.

Operational excellence: CSPs can benefit from consolidated billing, chargeback detail and simplified operations.

Global footprint: CSPs can help customers deploy services quickly and scale geographically without having to invest in new data centre capacity.

Complete solutions: CSPs can use AirWatch Mobility Services to create broader managed services offerings that include device monitoring, support, compliance management, professional services, consulting and education training.

AirWatch enables management and security of a broad array of customer devices, including bring-your-own (BYO) devices and those sold by the CSP, and supports enterprise collaboration services such as email and file sharing that drive data plan usage.

CSPs are additionally adding Digital Workspace services through VMware Workspace ONE, which optimises mobile user productivity and convenience by enabling an “any app, any device” experience. By offering all applications – mobile, web, Windows (including Windows 10), virtual, or cloud – through a single app portal with identity integration for single sign-on, carriers can further maximise revenue from enterprise data usage, software resale and services opportunities. VMware further helps CSPs develop a portfolio of professional services that include consultative/strategic, deployment, support, and managed services offerings.
