- SPACe ASEAN Innovation Tour 2017 to be in five countries in Southeast Asia
- Topics for each location are customised for specific industry requirements
- Siemens updates XHQ Operations Intelligence software and SIMATIC PCS 7 v9.0 process control system
The Siemens Process Automation Conference & Exhibition (SPACe) Innovation Tour 2017 will visit five countries in Southeast Asia this year. The biennial event focuses on automation, technology and challenges, as well as drives topics that are shaping process industries today.
SPACe activities include presentation and technology sessions, microfairs and exhibitions, as well as industry workshops and networking sessions that attendees can choose to participate in according to their specialisation and interests. Themed Driving the Digital Enterprise in Process Industries of Southeast Asia this year, the roadshow began from Vietnam on 23 June, and will be in Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia in August and September.
Conference sessions will consist of customised topics based on specific country’s industry requirements, including process automation, integrated drives system, process safety, industrial communication, process instrumentation and emerging industry trends such as digitalisation. Over 500 participants from all over the region are expected to attend SPACe ASEAN Innovation Tour 2017.
Dr Friedhelm Geiger, Head of Siemens PD PA ASEAN Solution Business, Siemens Thailand and SPACe Siemens Advisory Board Chairman, ASEAN, said, “Based on the feedback and support from the user community, we have evolved SPACe to cover more markets this year in order to reach out to and engage with the wider user community. Since the inception of SPACe in 2010, we have had very successful sessions with participants, and we look forward to continuing this outreach by showcasing our expertise in the process industries space, and at the same time discussing opportunities available in each of the Southeast Asia markets.”
Moving forward, the SPACe community in each of the countries will form their local user advisory board, to increase engagement locally and enhance the relationship among members in the industry.
Tindaro Danze, VP and Country Division Lead of Siemens Vietnam, said, “Through the conference, we aim to strengthen our relationship with Siemens users in Vietnam and the overall region. We are very keen to hear from them the challenges they face, as well as understand more about the industry requirements to better provide them with relevant technology solutions. We look forward in engaging with them through the various activities organised on-site.”
The latest range of Siemens technologies at SPACe includes an updated XHQ Operations Intelligence which can be used on mobile devices, allowing data relevant to plant operation to be accessed anywhere, anytime. For the first time, the software allows organised visualisations on both mobile and desktop devices to be set up with a single tool, the XHQ Workbench.
Siemens is also launching version 9 of its SIMATIC PCS 7 Process Control System at SPACe. PCS 7 allows manufacturers to respond quickly to changes in market requirements and ensures the continuous operation of systems. With this new version, Siemens is creating an additional building block en route to the digital enterprise.
Version 9 supports the Industrial Ethernet standard Profinet with two new distributed input/output (I/O) lines for greater digitalisation right down to the field level, as well as new software functionality. Plant operators also benefit from greater flexibility, convenience, futureproofing and compatibility with legacy installations.
