Lenovo and Nutanix, working better together

Lenovo's partnership with Nutanix offers customers much more than working with either vendor alone. Sumir Bhatia, President, Asia Pacific, Lenovo Data Center Group, shared that integrated support is one of the key benefits of the collaboration.

"Lenovo works with Nutanix teams till the support ticket is closed," he said.

Bhatia speaks about the Lenovo partnership with Nutanix on the sidelines of the Nutanix .Next On Tour roadshow in Singapore.

Other advantages include Lenovo predictive failure analytics (PFA) that connect with the Lenovo XClarity resource management tool which is itself integrated with Nutanix Prism, and the ThinkAgile Network Orchestrator working seamlessly with Prism, Bhatia said. Nutanix Prism offers data centre management with automation that is powered by data analytics.

Lenovo-Nutanix implementations around the region include:

One of India's largest private banks, which reduced extreme complexity and cost by moving from a traditional three-tier architecture to a consolidated data centre. The bank saved more than US$200,000 a year with the Nutanix hypervisor, Bhatia said. It saw ROI in under three years.

One of Singapore's largest legal firms, which only had a single IT person to handle its IT across the region. "They didn't have many IT resources. For them new technology meant new skills," Bhatia said. The firm moved from a three-tier architecture to a Nutanix solution on the HX series in a few hours, and training for the system was done in a day.

A major Indian airline which wanted to delight customers, including with being more punctual, but saw how difficult it would be to implement new applications. After adopting a Lenovo HX system, Lenovo XClarity, Nutanix PRISM, and cloud management tool Red Hat CloudForms, it now one of India's most punctual airlines and has ordered several hundred new aircraft. "They can implement a virtual machine in 15 minutes," Bhatia said.

Bhatia also announced the launch of the Lenovo ThinkAgile HX Series, which is designed for easy deployment and manageability in scale-out clusters, and integrates Nutanix software with Lenovo servers. The appliances are available in 10 variants, and ship fully-integrated, tested, and configured.
