Institute of Technical Education, Singapore and Epicor to provide learning and research opportunities

Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software, today announced that it will be collaborating with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore to use the latest version of its enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, Epicor ERP, for research and training purposes.

As part of the relationship, Epicor will also provide expertise and support to ITE students through mentorship activities, internship opportunities, student attachment programmes, and industry joint projects. Epicor is also showcasing the latest version of its ERP platform via the ITE’s Solutions Repository, where opportunities to apply Epicor ERP across different industries can be explored.

“Close collaboration between higher education institutions and the industry is essential in preparing students to enter the workforce,” said Vincent Tang, Regional VP, Epicor Software Asia. “By providing access to the Epicor ERP system, students have a chance to apply concepts they learn in a practical and visual manner. This greatly strengthens their ability to explore new business models, and tests their knowledge. At the same time, the Epicor ERP system encourages a self-learning approach, where students are able to innovate and tackle scenarios to increase productivity and develop deeper analytical skills.”

Dr Yek Tiew Ming, Principal, ITE College East said, “Through this collaboration, our students will benefit immensely from being exposed to the latest digital technologies, and will gain additional skills that will enable them to excel in an economy that is undergoing rapid digital transformation. We are excited about partnering with Epicor to ensure our students are well equipped with the right technology and skills to develop pioneering solutions for Singapore’s Smart Nation vision. In return, companies can benefit from new ideas and approaches to help them manage complex application environments.”

Tang concluded, “Working together with ITE to nurture this new generation to fully harness technology is very exciting, and we look forward to preparing students for successful careers ahead. More Millennials are entering the workplace, and they are both technologically proficient and digitally literate. Equipping these students with these relevant experiences and skills will help organisations to adapt and empower their employees to boost collaboration and innovation.”
