Western Digital Corporation, today launched a suite of consumer storage solutions to help manage the increasing quantities and varieties of personal data that consumers are amassing. The new My Cloud Home, SanDisk iXpand Base and 400GB* SanDisk Ultra microSDX UHS-I card offer different solutions to the problem.
"As long as you have digital content, look
for us. We have a product for you," said Margaret Koh, Sales Director, Asia South, Western Digital Corporation.
“Taking just the smartphone for example: advances in smartphone camera technology has enabled consumers to capture meaningful moments in high resolution quickly and easily. With so much content generated and stored on their mobile devices, users bear the risk of losing these highly valued memories or missing that perfect shot if they misplace their gadget or when they simply run out of space.
“Since photos and videos are often captured as keepsakes of memorable and significant moments in life, the notion of these being lost is a shame. Understanding that consumers care deeply about captured moments in their lives, we want to offer convenient solutions that enable users to protect and conserve their precious memories easily and conveniently, such as through the iXpand Base.”

| My Cloud Home has a power port, a network port and a USB port to import content from SD cards. |
Rather than have silos of information in different devices and in the cloud, My Cloud Home offers the option of having everything in a single place**. My Cloud Home is a personal cloud storage solution that empowers consumers to aggregate all of their photos, videos and files from their Android and iOS smartphones, computers, USB storage, cloud and social media accounts together. The content can be seamlessly viewed, streamed or shared with the user's smartphone, tablet or computer from anywhere with an Internet connection.
Albert Chang, Senior Product Marketing Manager, APAC, Western Digital said, "Everything is automated and everything is easy. We give you total control of the device from your mobile phone."
Multiple users can save to a single My Cloud Home device, with capacities ranging from 2TB to 8TB. The My Cloud Home Duo version contains two drives and can perform RAID 1 or disk mirroring between the two.
IPhone users looking for a backup solution that is more accessible than iCloud can look to SanDisk iXpand Base, which extends the SanDisk's line of iPhone mobile storage solutions. SanDisk iXpand Base is literally plug and play, for iPhone users who do not want to deal with configuring a solution such as My Cloud Home. As with My Cloud Home, iXpand Base can be shared. Each user who plugs their iPhone to the device has information stored in a separate folder

Hui Low, Product Marketing Manager, APAC, Western Digital, cited research that each household generates 4.5TB of data in 2017. "People are generally just taking a lot of pictures," he said.
He also shared that 84% of respondents in a survey said they cared for their photos but 42% did not back them up. Seventy percent of respondents said they would back up more if there is an automatic
way of doing so. With the iXpand Base, consumers can simply plug their iPhone into the iXpand Base to charge the phone before they go to sleep, and the device automatically backs up new content while the phone is charging***.
The iXpand Base contains an SD card for storage that can be removed and read elsewhere. If the card becomes full, users can swap in a larger capacity SD card and undergo a full image backup. The device is also smart enough to restore all pictures to a new phone.
