MyBazar begins roadshows to educate Malaysian entrepreneurs about Blee initiative

MyBazar Malaysia, a social marketplace focused on local products and merchants, has been appointed by Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to pilot the Blee programme.

Kicked off on 27 March 2018,  Blee - Barangan Luarbiasa Eksklusif eUsahawan - focuses on unlocking digital growth opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

In continuing their efforts to ensure wider and deeper engagement of local entrepreneurs and  merchants, MyBazar Malaysia has started touring the country to present the Blee opportunity and onboard more eUsahawan merchants. MyBazar will introduce Blee to 500 selected local merchants selling more than 2,000 products ranging from foodstuffs to fashion, home décor and handicrafts.

The MyBazar roadshows will build awareness of eUsahawan’s nationwide Bootcamp, where new Blee merchants can be registered. The first two roadshows are in Pekan, Pahang and Sepanggar, Sabah on 25 April 2018.

The eUsahawan Bootcamp is an awareness programme to engage, inspire and educate participants and micro entrepreneurs on digital entrepreneurship and the programmes under eUsahawan. The event targets to engage at least 1,000 micro entrepreneurs aged 18 and above from the Pahang area. Activities during the bootcamp include sharing sessions, a financial checkup, social media training plus demonstration, games, quizzes, a mini forum and a free photo session for products.

Blee is aimed at widening the reach and boosting the adoption of e-commerce nationwide by targeting micro and rural merchants and entrepreneurs. This will directly contribute toward growth of local businesses as well as closing a commercial and income divide between rural and urban Malaysia. Malaysian consumers, on the other hand, will be able to access a dedicated all-local product shopping portal consisting of high quality local products which are exclusive, unique and hard-to-find in urban stores or shopping malls.

The Blee initiative is the first step towards MyBazar’s long term goal of bringing authentic local brands and products to the national and later to the international market, as the marketplace aims to connect cross-border selling and buying activities between countries in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Turkey, and parts of Europe and Africa within the next three years.

Representing 76.5% of businesses in Malaysia according to SME Corp, local micro businesses are poised to become a major growth and employment engine in the country. EUsahawan is a government initiative to educate local entrepreneurs about the online business and digital economy. Blee was specially created for rural entrepreneurs under the programme to showcase and sell quality products in Malaysia at affordable prices, and to provide a virtual channel for these products to penetrate regional and international markets.
