The report has been prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards: Core option and for the first time, it is independently assured to the SSAE 3000 by KPMG.
The company's sustainability strategy and initiatives are also included, and their relationship with UN Sustainable Development Goals
2017 highlights include:
- Strengthening capabilities in cybersecurity through the acquisition of Accel Systems & Technologies, and a commitment to investing up to S$10 million over two years to boost capabilities in round-the-clock cyberthreat detection, for a secure Smart Nation, as well as mission-critical ICT and digital solutions.
- Forging partnerships with OCBC, NTUC, ST Kinetics, and Google amongst others to drive the We Economy while building up capabilities and expanding service and product offerings in the digital economy.
In the We Economy, businesses globally are moving beyond conventional industry silos into an interconnected ecosystem to shape better business outcomes and customer experiences. The previously clear lines between different businesses and industries will converge to meet customer needs in a unified manner.
- A materiality* assessment was conducted to identify/update key topics that matter to employees and how StarHub addresses these. Topics identified as being important to both employees and the business ranged from responsible practices to safety and the talent pipeline.
"Data security, service quality, responsible business practices, employee engagement and climate change continue to be keen concerns for our stakeholders," said Jeannie Ong, Chief Strategic Partnership Officer, StarHub.
- A new supplier code of conduct based on the UN Global Compact Ten Principles was also developed after StarHub reviewed supplier management and undertook a risk assessment of its supply chain.
"This helps us in prioritising decisions and actions towards responsible sourcing," Ong said.
- Increased investment in training and upskilling employees, and expanded volunteer participation
