70% fibre broadband coverage in Muscat, Oman this year

Muscat, capital of Oman, will have 70% coverage of fibre broadband this year according to Engineer Said bin Abdullah al-Manthri, CEO, Oman Broadband Company in an Oman News Agency (ONA) report.

He told ONA that the goal 85% coverage by end-2020. Coverage outside Muscat is to stand at 30%, with fibre broadband for the Al Sa’ada area in Salalah by the end of October, and the Special Economic Zone Authority of Duqm to provide new buildings, facilities and factories with fibre broadband.  

Fibre broadband installations can be found in over 200,000 housing units in Muscat and 100,000 to 150,000 units outside the governorate.
