Hitachi has announced that as of April 1, 2019, a new company will be established to provide solutions that offer richer lifestyles for customers. The new company will be formed through a merger of Hitachi Consumer
Marketing, which has been involved in sales and service for home
appliances and air conditioners, and Hitachi Appliances, which has
handled design and manufacturing.
In its 2018 Mid-term Management Plan, and as part of its efforts to
become an innovation partner in the Internet of Things (IoT) era, Hitachi has chosen power/energy, industry/distribution/water, urban, and finance/social/healthcare as its four focus business domains. Positioned in the urban domain, and carrying the business slogan 360
degrees Happiness, the new company will utilise digital technologies to
offer services that improve quality of life and achieve further growth
in the products business.
The company is expected to create new lifestyle solutions by combining its own products and services with the Hitachi Group's IT, operational technology (OT), and products. It will also use the Lumada platformto venture into new business fields such as smart home and smart city.
Lumada is a suite of digital solutions, services, and technologies for turning data into insights to drive digital innovation.
