The HUAWEI CLOUD SUMMIT 2019 event marked HUAWEI CLOUD's debut in Singapore. HUAWEI CLOUD offers more than 160 cloud services and 140 types of solutions, operating 40 availability zones (AZs) in 23 geographic regions around the world.

The company also launched a Cloud & AI Innovation Lab in Singapore at the summit. The lab will cultivate local artificial intelligence (AI) talents,  connect Singapore with state-of-art AI technologies globally, and accelerate cloud and AI innovation. AI developers and companies in the Asia-Pacific region will have the opportunity to participate in research projects and innovations on AI training and learning.

Backed by the compute power and a wide range of AI solutions offered by HUAWEI CLOUD, Huawei's public cloud service, the lab will provide AI services and resources including AI research and development (R&D) robots, digital twins for traffic, and AI development kits. The new initiative is also expected to deepen collaboration with local universities and enterprises in carrying out research.

Nicholas Ma, CEO of Huawei International said: "This is the start of our 19th year in Singapore, and we truly cherish the trust of our clients and partners. We have always stood alongside Singapore and its development, placing customers at the core, devoting ourselves to building telecom infrastructure, pushing enterprise digitalisation, and providing outstanding technology and products to consumers.

"Huawei will continue to invest in Singapore and participate in the Services 4.0 innovation to strive for the Smart Nation goal. To do this, we will be providing cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and cloud and AI, and encouraging more talents to engage in AI development, innovative thinking, and revolutions in tech. Our purpose is to help enterprises grow with intelligence and bring digital to every person, home and organisation for a fully connected, intelligent Singapore."

Edward Deng, President of HUAWEI CLOUD Global Market said that Singapore bridges the eastern and western worlds. "Singapore is an international centre of innovation, also a strategical hub for China-funded and overseas enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region. HUAWEI CLOUD attaches great importance to development in Singapore and the Asia Pacific. HUAWEI CLOUD provides industry-leading full-stack intelligent cloud services to bring together government, universities, enterprises, and partners to innovate, and to help accelerate their intelligent transformation," he said.

HUAWEI CLOUD also announced the launch of its Go-China/Go-Global plan to help more enterprises develop worldwide services. This involves helping Chinese companies globalise via Singapore, and companies from elsewhere succeed in China, again via Singapore.

As part of this initiative Huawei will provide global Internet, gaming, finance, and video markets with a series of services:

• ARM cloud service for mobile phones.

• High-defense IP addresses providing service traffic isolation and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack prevention.

• Cloud video services with ultra-low distribution costs. There will be a cloud video service that ensures continued clear broadcasts in sub-par network conditions.

• High definition (HD) live broadcasts for low-speed networks.

Three flagship cloud services were also released:

▶ ECS C6, the industry's first elastic cloud services using servers based on the Intel Xeon Cascade Lake processor, which deliver 15% more performabnce than the industry average.

▶ Object Storage Service (OBS), which meets long-term storage requirements for massive volumes of data. OBS is positioned at data lake management and features the industry's highest single-stream bandwidth at 2.4 Gbps.

▶ The new high-performance distributed Taurus database has seven times the performance of native MySQL databases. It supports cross-AZ deployment and delivers 128 TB of storage. This solution provides the massive-scale storage needed in high throughput conditions for carriers and large enterprises.

According to Deng, HUAWEI CLOUD has four core advantages:

- Huawei hybrid cloud is ideal for large enterprises which want to migrate their business to the cloud. Huawei's 30 years of successful experience in digital transformation are now shared through HUAWEI CLOUD in the form of services. The HUAWEI CLOUD ICT solution has served 48 of the Fortune 100 enterprises and 221 of the top 500 enterprises in the world.

- The combination of HUAWEI CLOUD+AI is particularly powerful for digital transformation. Huawei estimates that almost all companies will have migrated their businesses to the cloud by 2025, 97% of large enterprises will use AI, and 77% of cloud applications will rely on AI. AI will become a key competitive advantage for cloud users.

- HUAWEI CLOUD+AI is the driving force not just for digital transformation, but intelligent transformation. HUAWEI CLOUD believes that AI implementation requires deep integration of knowhow and data with powerful AI computing and algorithms. In the past year, HUAWEI CLOUD has worked on over 300 AI projects in more than 10 industries. The experience gained from these projects enables HUAWEI CLOUD to quickly and accurately help industries, enterprises, and citizens enjoy the value and benefits from AI technologies.

- HUAWEI CLOUD has invested heavily to provide reliable, localised services and support. HUAWEI CLOUD has a unified open architecture, 40 AZs in 23 regions, over 1,500 content delivery network (CDN) nodes, and satisfies security and compliance requirements at home and abroad.

HUAWEI CLOUD will also cover key areas in Europe, Africa, China, North America, and Latin America for a truly global offering.
