Enterprise data management company Rubrik is ramping up in Asia, orchestrating its expansion from its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore. The company offers software-based platform that delivers backup, instant recovery,
archival, search, analytics, compliance, and copy data management for data centres and clouds.
Kamal Brar, newly-appointed VP, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) for Rubrik is focused on building a meaningful and sustainable business in Asia, and is aiming for the Asian business to be between 12 to 15 percentage points of global revenues.
"There's so much momentum in the market, there's so much opportunity," he said, describing the market opportunity as worth US$50 billion. "And for us, it's around how do we make sure that customers in Asia benefit from that? So a lot of my opportunity here... is around building a consolidated approach to how we execute in region. Specifically, how do we do that in Singapore, in Southeast Asia."

"We've got a very large addressable market between India, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia," he noted. Rubrik already has some 90 customers in Southeast Asia alone, Brar said, describing a typical Rubrik customer as one which has a substantial investment in cloud infrastructure.
The company already has a presence in many countries and territories in APJ, including Australia, Singapore, and Japan. Singapore was chosen as the site for Rubrik's headquarters, Brar added, because of the availability of talent, the government's focus on driving an innovation mindset, and proximity to larger markets such as China and India.
Rubrik's value proposition is its API-based policy-driven platform built with next-generation operating architecture in mind.
