Darktrace accumulates US$1 billion in bookings

Darktrace has hit over US$1 billion dollars in cumulative bookings. The company said that
demand has hit an all-time high in 2020, and attributed the interest to its self-learning artificial intelligence (AI), which can adapt to defend today’s remote workforce.

Over 600 organisations across Asia Pacific have now deployed Darktrace’s Cyber AI Platform. These includes Australia’s retail pharmacy chain Chemist Warehouse, Taiwan’s largest taxi organisation Taiwan Taxi, Japanese pharmaceutical company Otsuka Pharmaceutical, South Korean multinational Samsung Electronics, and Singapore-based Farrer Park Group.

The number of new customers using the Enterprise Immune System to defend cloud and software-as-a-service (SaaS) environments from cyberthreats increased by 60% in March 2020 compared to January 2020, whilst the number of organisations adopting Antigena – the company’s autonomous response capability – increased by over 30%.

Darktrace AI is a self-learning technology that is designed to understand the ‘pattern of life’ for every user across an organisation. The AI is capable of analysing and protecting the full range of digital environments – from cloud and SaaS applications, to email environments, the Internet of Things (IoT), industrial control systems, and the network. The AI detects novel threats that may otherwise go unnoticed and stops them before they escalate into a full-blown attack.

Poppy Gustafsson, CEO at Darktrace, commented: “To eclipse the US$1 billion mark in bookings is a major milestone for Darktrace as organisations around the world accelerate their adoption of AI for cybersecurity. Our self-learning cyber AI remains the only technology on the market that can autonomously adapt to fast-changing digital environments and protect workforces from advanced cyberthreats before they do damage.”

“We believe Darktrace’s rapid expansion is testament to the power of their AI technology, with its ease of implementation and universal applicability across industry sectors,” said Han Sikkens, member of the Darktrace Board of Directors and Managing Director at Summit Partners, which invested in Darktrace in 2015.

“We are excited to see the enhancement of their product portfolio, and continued growth into new territories.”

Darktrace is the creator of Autonomous Response technology. Its self-learning AI is modelled on the human immune system and used by over 3,500 organisations across 110 countries. Today, Darktrace has 150 employees across 13 offices in Asia Pacific.
