Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the nation’s lead digital economy agency under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Malaysia (KKD), has launched the Malaysia Digital Content Festival (MYDCF 2022). The event is in line with Malaysia Digital (MD), through which MDEC aims to further strengthen the digital creative ecosystem in Malaysia, promote collaborations across the region, celebrate the best of what the country has to offer and empower local talent.
MYDCF celebrates the best of digital creative content developed by Malaysian and Southeast Asia creators. Held in conjunction with Comic Fiesta, the event will run from 17 to 18 December at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) and is expected to attract 40,000 attendees from all over Malaysia.
The latest games and animation content will be available. MYDCF 2022 will feature local and international industry icons
with a variety of activities such as e-sports tournaments, game
showcases, and animation screenings. A complementary jobs fair enables
visitors to explore employment opportunities offered by creative
companies.
MDEC will also be awarding the winners of the Creativity @ Schools Competition 2022 which aims to inspire and support young people to create, develop and present their creative ideas to the world. Under the C@S Competition umbrella are the LEVEL UP @ Schools Competition 2022 for digital games and Kre8tif! @ Schools Competition 2022 for animation. Hundreds of submissions were received for Kre8tif!@Schools, and 97 for Level Up@Schools 2022.
Participants include Larian Studios, Bandai Namco Studio, Xsolla, Omens Studio, Battlebrew Production, Weyrdworks, and others. Local game developers such as One More Dream Studios, Passion Republic, Blackfyre Media, IXI Creatives, and Illogical will also be there. Visitors can further enjoy animation from local studios, such as Space Sheep Studio, Mirayi Animation Studio, All for One Production, and others.
