Amazon Web Services Asia Pacific Hub is inaugurated

Amazon has unveiled the new Amazon Web Services (AWS) Asia Pacific Hub in Singapore. The facility is designed to optimise agile working, learning, and collaboration as AWS continues to grow its business, operations, and investments in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

The new office reinforces AWS’s commitment to invest an additional S$12 billion into its existing cloud infrastructure in Singapore from 2024 to 2028. This investment, in addition to previous investments, is estimated to contribute S$23.7 billion to Singapore’s GDP by 2028. It will also support an estimated 12,300 full-time equivalent jobs in local Singapore businesses each year.

The new hub in IOI Central Boulevard is Amazon’s second corporate office in Singapore’s Central Business District, after the opening of an office in Asia Square in 2021. As the anchor tenant in IOI Central Boulevard’s East Tower, Amazon will occupy over 360,000 sq ft of workspace over eight floors, a space which can accommodate up to 3,000 employees.

Amazon currently has over 2,500 employees in Singapore across its cloud, corporate, retail, technology, and operations functions. The company continues to expand locally, with more than 100 job openings in its cloud business and corporate functions in Singapore. The new office will house more than 100 teams, including local and regional employees supporting AWS and other corporate functions. It will also serve as a strategic hub for digital transformation across Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region.

“AWS’s new regional office in Singapore represents our deepening commitment to Singapore, and serves as a strategic hub for digital transformation across ASEAN. Designed as a collaborative space, it connects AWS leaders with industry partners, enterprises, and innovators to advance technology development in Southeast Asia,” said Jeff Johnson, MD, ASEAN, Amazon Web Services.

“The launch of the new AWS office marks Amazon’s 15th year in Singapore, reinforcing the island state’s position as a
leading technology hub while accelerating digital initiatives throughout the region.”

AWS customers and partners are welcome to use its office for focused coworking sessions, creative brainstorms in dedicated innovation rooms, hands-on technical workshops, or informal networking in their community spaces. This open-door approach aims to create an environment where ideas flow freely and joint innovation thrives.

Highlights of the new AWS office include:

 Amazon’s first Inclusion and Sustainability Gallery, which showcases the company's key milestones and commitments in this space through interactive exhibits highlighting Amazon's progress in areas such as climate action, diverse hiring initiatives, community impact programmes, and sustainability innovations.

Sustainability was at the core of the design of the new workspace. Key features include upcycled door desks and artworks from decommissioned sites.

 AWS’s first flagship Executive Briefing Center in Asia, a purpose-built space where AWS experts engage with enterprise customers and partners in strategic discussions about their cloud journey, providing customised presentations, technical deep-dives, and interactive demonstrations of AWS solutions that align with the organisation's specific business objectives.

 An upcoming AWS Asia-Pacific Innovation Hub that is designed to inspire, educate, and empower customers and partners on their innovation journey. This is a unique space for AWS customers to “Experience tomorrow's possibilities to drive transformation today”. The AWS Innovation Hub is the first-of-its-kind in the region and is slated to open by Q3 this year.

 The Amazon Candidate Experience Center provides a welcoming, private space for job seekers to prepare for and participate in interviews, offering a comfortable environment with amenities like refreshments and quiet rooms to ensure candidates can focus and perform at their best.

 Featuring Amazon’s and Asia’s vibrant culture: Amazon's leadership principles come to life in the office through vibrant environmental graphics, reinforcing the company’s culture of customer obsession and long-term thinking. The workplace experience is further enriched by meeting rooms and collaboration spaces named after beloved Asian landmarks and cultural icons, honouring both Amazon’s global principles and Asian heritage.

 Spaces on every floor for creativity and inspiration: Employees, customers, and partners can unwind at the pantry and mini cafĂ©, equipped with Nespresso coffee machines and game tables, including amenities to play billiards, foosball, electronic darts and more. They can also enjoy interactive game board walls for friendly competitions of scrabble and chess.

 Collaboration spaces: The office includes breakout areas for informal discussions and brainstorms. The office also has 12 large training rooms with a capacity ranging between 40 to 60 people each. All meeting rooms and training rooms are audiovisual/videoconferencing (AV/VC) capable and are equipped with video-conferencing capabilities.

 Facilities for work and learning: Employees can enjoy ergonomically designed height-adjustable desks as well as individual lockers to store their personal items. Teams and employees who require intervals of privacy and focus can access quiet rooms and phone booths.
