Seagate, Acronis to deliver secure, scalable archival storage solutions for MSPs

Seagate Technology, a global provider of mass-capacity data storage, has announced an alliance with Acronis, a global cybersecurity and data protection provider. The collaboration aims to equip managed service providers (MSPs) and global enterprises with secure, scalable archival storage solutions to meet the demands of AI-accelerated rapid data growth.

Seagate and Acronis will deliver Acronis Archival Storage, a long-term, secure, compliant, and cost-efficient S3-compatible storage solution for infrequently accessed data, integrated with the Acronis platform. Unlike other storage vendors charging for API and traffic, Acronis provides a controlled, predictable cost model.

Acronis will further incorporate Seagate’s Lyve Cloud Object Storage—which is also an S3-compatible platform—into its archival storage offerings to help enable MSPs to deliver seamless, cost-effective, and compliant storage. Seagate Lyve Cloud offers enterprise-grade security features such as encryption of data in-transit and at-rest, as well as role-based access control, identity and access management, immutability options. It also supports the ISO 27001 and SOC 2 standards.

“Acronis has been at the forefront of delivering innovative cybersecurity and backup solutions, including secure data management capabilities for hybrid cloud environments,” said Melyssa Banda, SVP of Edge Storage and Services at Seagate.

“By joining forces, Seagate and Acronis can leverage our combined global reach to deliver the highly secure storage solutions that the new frontier of AI requires—empowering enterprises to better protect their data from cloud to edge to endpoint.”

This alliance will further strengthen Acronis’ ability to deliver mass-capacity storage solutions and will also unlock the opportunity to assist customers storing rapidly-growing data both economically and compliantly. It is particularly relevant to MSPs and IT leaders in regulated sectors like healthcare, finance, legal, utilities, public administration as it addresses the needs of organisations that must retain large volumes of infrequently-accessed data for years while controlling storage costs, and meeting audit and compliance requirements.

"Seagate's global leadership in mass-capacity storage perfectly aligns with Acronis' goal to offer MSPs the integrated archival storage that prioritises security, compliance, and cost efficiency," said Gaidar Magdanurov, President at Acronis.

"With over 60% of organisations managing over 1 PB of data, archival storage is a necessary solution to keep storage costs manageable. Our partners will be able to address the rapidly growing demand for long-term storage of data, and address compliance, legal, and security requirements of their customers."
